| 2007 | 2006 | 2005 | 2004 | Saddest Movies Ever - Dec 9, 2007 | I just finished watching Pan's Labyrinth for the second time, and despite having previously seen it I was still bawling by the end of it. So that got me thinking as to what are the saddest movies of all time that I've seen. So here then is my list of the top 10 saddest movies ever:
Bambi Wizard of Oz Deer Hunter The Green Mile Donnie Darko Big Fish Bastard out of Carolina
and these last three not only made me cry, but actually had me break down watching them... Finding Neverland Pan's Labyrinth Life as a House
So if there's some on here that you haven't seen and you want to feel like absolute crap by the end of it, then I highly recommend you watch them! |
| Goddamn Freeloaders! - Nov 8, 2007 | Radiohead comes out with a new album, In Rainbows, that by all reviews is their best album ever. But it's not the album that's so incredible its what they decided to charge for it - available off their website, they let you pay whatever you feel is appropriate.
Think about that. This isn't some small time Indie band, this is a major music act. They have taken the bold step to let the consumer decide how much the product they are buying is worth. So what's the problem? Of all the people that have downloaded it, only 36% have paid anything for it! Here is a band that in response to the frequent cries of 'CD's cost to much!' have gone and actually done something to shake things up - and what happens? Cheap ass, low-life, 'the world owes me everything' losers have taken advantage of the situation and spat in their face saying "thanks for the music suckers!" As a result, this will probably be the first and last time a major label uses such a pricing scheme. So sadly I'll continue to have to pay $30 the next time I go to buy a CD all because of the Goddam freeloaders in the world. These are the same fucking idiots who think that paying 99 cents for a song on iTunes is way to much, the same morons that pirate the shit out of absolutely everything so that when I go and buy an iPod I have to pay an additional tax and when I go and buy a DVD it may or may not work properly because it's been DRM'd all to hell in response. Basically the more everyone else breaks the law the more I end up having to pay. Enjoy the free music assholes! |
| Fuck You Globe & Mail- Jul 22, 2007 | | And people wonder why I hate the East so much? A big part of it is the sickening Liberal funded media empires based in Toronto. If you want a night and day comparison of newspapers read the G&M and then read The National Post (based out of Calgary). So what's got me so upset this time? I tried to post on their online forum regarding a story on today's elections in Turkey. The gist of the story is that the Islamic ruling party looks likely to win and that has caused concern in what has traditionally been a secular society. Secular meaning a separation of religion and state and all religions accepted equally. For example, Turkey currently has a law banning headscarfs from Government offices, schools etc. Some of the posts brought up the encroachment of Islamic laws and rules in Western societies (think Britain) and I wanted to throw in my two cents. My actual post that I submitted was: | I remember growing up with religion (which at that time was Christianity) having no place in Public schools. If I wanted to learn about Jesus I had to go to a Catholic school. Why is it now that any newly landed immigrant is accommodated so that they can wear their hijab or bring their dagger to school? |
But they would not publish it. I tried several times, playing with the wording etc. Nope they just would not publish it. So as a test I posted this: | I'm confident that Turkey will be able to settle their differences and move forward. As one of the few Muslim democracies they've shown over and over again that they truly are tolerant and progressive. Hopefully more Middle Eastern countries will follow their example. |
Sure enough it got posted. So why am I pissed off? Because of the G&M's handpicked policy of censorship. Nothing that I tried to post went against their Terms and Conditions. The moderator simply didn't agree with what I had to say. Positive, pro-Liberal, we're all one happy family holding hands and singing Kumbaya posts were however posted. I don't care if you agree with my thoughts and views or not. But in a democracy all viewpoints (extreme or not) should be heard. Censorship is the first step down the slippery slope to Fascism. And when that censorship is institutionalized in the media that the majority of Canadians are exposed to it really pisses me off. Frankly the Globe and Mail is no better than Fox news for the FUD it purposely spreads. |
| Target Iran - Feb 9, 2007 | All signs now point to a massive strike from air and sea on Iran in the coming months.
A second carrier battle group is en-route to the Arabian sea and will arrive in a few weeks, precision strike aircraft have been moved to Turkey, anti-missile batteries have been sent to protect vital oil interests in the region, and Israeli pilots have been practicing long range bombing runs to the island of Gibraltar. The rhetoric emerging from the White house has been ratcheted up recently and supposed Iranian involvement in Iraqi affairs is being presented as justification for the coming slaughter. Before the missiles start flying, let's examine who the real threat in all this is. In the late 50's the CIA orchestrated the overthrow of the Iranian government and installed the Shaw, a patsy who would acquiesce to American demands After the Iranian people revolted and overthrew the Shaw the US armed, financed, and supported Iraq's invasion of Iran. It was with American supplied chemical weapons and with American supplied targeting intelligence which Iraq used to great affect against Iran. By the end of the war there were over a million Iranian casualties American incompetence resulted in the downing of an Iranian passenger jet in 1988 resulting in the deaths of all 290 on board The US has systematically established a military presence in Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Iraq, and Turkey. Virtually surrounding Iran Iran, unlike the US has never attacked another country in it's modern history Iran, unlike the US is a signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. While Pakistan has knowingly shared nuclear secrets with nations such as Libya and North Korea and yet is still an American ally The United States has repeatedly threatened Iran with a military response unless it halts it's entirely legal nuclear program The United States which has the worlds largest arsenal of nuclear weapons has established a doctrine of preventative warfare whereby it reserves the right to annihilate any country in the world that might one day have the ability to produce their own nuclear weapons By all expert accounts Iran is at least 10 years away from being able to build the bomb
Iran clearly is not a threat to the United States, so why the rush to war? Because Israel is demanding it. Over the years Israel has insidiously infiltrated into every aspect of American politics. It is the Israeli lobby which determines US foreign policy. Israel cannot live with another nation in the region threatening it's military dominance. So the US will either dutifully do Israel's dirty work, or Israel will lead the initial attack with the US responding to any retaliation. While an American military victory is all but certain, Arabs have a long, long memory. When the inevitable blowback comes, I for one hope I am not around to witness it. |
